Providing hope for Type 2 Diabetes Remission
At Taking Control of Your Health our mission is clear and unwavering: to lead the way in achieving Type 2 diabetes remission for individuals in the UK. We understand the profound impact of diabetes on people's lives, and we are dedicated to empowering individuals to take control of their health and wellness.
Our Journey
Our journey began in 2019 when Dr Sue Cradock and myself, Mark Hancock came together with a shared vision: to make Type 2 diabetes remission a reality, not just a hope. Since then, we've been on a relentless quest to transform lives, one step at a time.
Our Commitment
Our commitment to achieving Type 2 diabetes remission is built on four pillars:
Our Vision
Our vision is a world where Type 2 diabetes remission is not just a possibility; it's an achievable reality for all who strive for it. We envision healthier, happier lives free from the constraints of diabetes.

Dr Sue Cradock
My journey started as a child with severe asthma. At the time, there was little treatment available (yes I am that old!) so spent a lot of time thinking about managing my health at the time. This led me into a career as a nurse and for the last 35 years I have 'specialised' in supporting people with type 1 and Type 2 diabetes to manage their health. The last 10 years working in primary care have shown me how the 'drugs' used to help people with Type 2 diabetes are ineffective at helping people gain control of their overall health.
I gained my PhD though studying how to be an effective diabetes educator.
Mark Hancock
After diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes in 2010, at the age of 39, my journey to seek a future free of Type 2 diabetes has given me an insight into the many challenges one encounters. During this time I found the standard advice given me did not provide me with the lifestyle changes I needed to reverse this disease. After exploring what I could do for myself, I found the usual messages were not helpful and found a new way that has helped others. These changes have meant that I have been in remission of Type 2 diabetes since 2016 and at the same time I have become fitter and healthier than ever. This has enabled me to bring a high level of empathy, respect, and understanding in delivering education and support as a Health and Wellbeing Coach.
